Terms of Service

Last updated 18 July 2026

These terms govern your use of hicd-usa.com and your membership in or donations to The Hellenic Institute of Cultural Diplomacy — U.S.A. (“HICD USA,” “we,” “us”). By using this site, you agree to them.

1. About us

HICD USA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Nashville, Tennessee, advancing Hellenic cultural values through diplomacy, academic exchange, and civic engagement.

2. Use of this site

You may use this site for lawful purposes only. You agree not to attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the site or its servers, interfere with its operation, scrape it by automated means without permission, or use it to transmit malicious code or unsolicited commercial messages.

3. Membership

  • Membership runs for twelve months from the date your dues are received.
  • Memberships are one-time payments and do not renew automatically. We will contact you before your term ends so you can choose whether to renew.
  • Membership benefits are described on the membership page and may be adjusted from time to time. We will not materially reduce the benefits of a term you have already paid for.
  • Members may upgrade at any time by paying the difference in dues. The upgrade takes effect on receipt.
  • Membership is personal to you and may not be transferred or resold. Where a benefit permits you to bring a guest, that benefit is exercised by you in person.
  • We may decline or terminate a membership where a member behaves in a way that is abusive, unlawful, or damaging to the organization or its guests. Where we terminate for cause, dues are not refunded.

4. Payments

All payments are processed by PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account; major debit and credit cards are accepted. All amounts are in U.S. dollars. HICD USA does not receive or store your card details. Your PayPal receipt is your proof of payment; we will separately send an acknowledgment for tax purposes.

5. Refunds and cancellation

  • Membership dues are non-refundable once the membership year has begun. You may simply choose not to renew at the end of your term, with no penalty.
  • Donations are generally non-refundable. If you make a genuine error — a duplicate payment, or a wrong amount — contact us within 30 days and we will make it right.
  • Campaign gifts (Nine Muses seats and Apollo Patron) are one-time founding gifts and are non-refundable once the associated recognition has been published.

To request a refund, email deegeehicd.usa@gmail.com.

6. Restricted donations

Where you designate a gift to a specific program or Advisory Council, we will apply it to that purpose. If that purpose becomes impractical or is fully funded, we will contact you to agree an alternative use, or apply the gift to the closest comparable purpose consistent with our mission.

7. Tax deductibility

HICD USA is a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. Membership dues may be partially deductible, to the extent they exceed the fair market value of the benefits you receive. We are not tax advisors; please consult yours.

8. Events

Event dates, venues, and participants may change. Where an event is cancelled by us and a separate ticket fee was charged, that fee will be refunded. Membership dues are not refunded on account of a cancelled event. Attendees are expected to conduct themselves respectfully toward staff, guests, and venue partners.

9. Intellectual property

You may view, print, and share pages for personal, non-commercial use with attribution. You may not reproduce site content commercially without our written permission. 10. Third-party links and content

This site links to and embeds content from other organizations. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability, or privacy practices.

11. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HICD USA is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of this site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, and the courts of Davidson County, Tennessee have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.

13. Changes

We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published here on the date of your transaction or visit. Material changes will be dated at the top of this page.
