HICD-USA's inaugural event was a 3-night virtual "1821-2021" program honoring the Bicentennial of the Greek War of Independence and featuring academic presentations and performances in music, dance, and dramatic re-enactment. The celebration culminated with the reading of a Mayoral Proclamation declaring March 25th as Greek Independence Day in Nashville, a formal greeting from Greek Ambassador to the United States Alexandra Papadopoulou, and the illumination of four iconic Nashville sites: The Parthenon, the Tennessee State Capital, the Nashville/Davidson County Courthouse, and the Korean Veterans Bridge.
