On June 6, 2021, HICD-USA was honored to participate in New York City's spectacular 1821-2021 Greek Bicentennial "Sail to Freedom" in New York Harbor, concluding with the sailing of ships and yachts to the Statue of Liberty. Nashville's video greeting to Greeks and Philhellenes everywhere was created by HICD-USA Ambassador Demetria Kalodimos and introduces the world to Nashville's upcoming 1824-2024 celebration of the city's Bicentennial as the "Athens of the South."
